Yahn Planetarium at Penn State Behrend
Yahn Planetarium on the campus of Penn State Behrend welcomes future scientists and stargazers of all ages to explore the universe with immersive shows that bring the night sky to life. In addition to exhibits, shows are offered twice daily on Saturdays and summer Thursdays, and reservations are not required.
Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park
Splash Lagoon is consistently ranked one of the country's Top 10 Water Park Resorts by USA Today’s Readers’ Choice. Five Iron Golf combines state-of-the-art golf simulators with interactive games in an energizing space for all ages. Seven simulators are loaded with games like Slapshot Hockey and Zombie Dodgeball. Spanning two floors, Five Iron also features screen-free games like ping pong and shuffleboard, as well as a full menu.
The expERIEnce Children’s Museum
One of the top children's museums in the country is in downtown Erie at the expERIEnce Children's Museum, a space that feels brand new and better than ever after a complete renovation in 2024. The museum features the second-largest interactive water table in the country, featuring many Erie-centric landmarks, as well as exhibits that pay homage to the Erie community. Two of the most popular include "My Town," a kid-sized town with hands-on play businesses (a grocery store, mechanic's garage, and theater are among the most popular), as well as the Ship Climber in the "Lake Life" exhibit, a tall ship modeled after the U.S. Brig Niagara for toddlers and above to climb on and explore.
ASCEND Climbing
Challenge your family to an indoor climbing day at this state-of-the-art gym, featuring walls for all skill levels. Families can bond while tackling a 50-food lead climbing wall, top roping, auto-belay walls, and bouldering terrain. Individual day passes, multi-day or weekend passes, and 10-punch passes are available.
The Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC)
Dedicated to teaching its visitors about the history of Presque Isle State Park, the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (or "TREC" as the locals call it) is a free museum with two floors of exhibits and a glass-enclosed observation tower with views of Lake Erie. Also located at TREC, the Big Green Screen features a rotating schedule of movies and documentaries in amphitheater-style seating, ticketed for a small fee.
