Seneca artist and educator Leon Sam Briggs, whose Seneca name is Hoya'degay hus, presents the history of the Seneca before and after colonization, beginning with the origins of the Seneca nation and the Haudenosaunee (people of the long house) and including oft untold stories and information on Seneca culture, food, sovereignty, crafts, and sports.
Make and Take Fiber Arts Workshop

In this workshop, participants have the chance to make sock bunnies, embroidered initials, and small potpourri sachets (small, sealed pouches) and celebrate an artform spanning all eras of United States history.

Witness the birth of a nation in "1776:" a revolutionary musical experience! Join John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and other iconic figures as they draft the Declaration of Independence. This three-time Tony Award-winning musical is a gripping portrayal of some of the most pivotal moments in American history.
Flying Legends of Victory Warbird Tour
June 30 - July 5, 2026
The Airbase Arizona Commemorative Air Force will bring its annual Flying Legends of Victory Tour to Erie, featuring two WWII era bombers. The B-17 Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey and the B-25 Mitchell Maid in the Shade will be available for tours and flights at Fundamentals Flight Training at the Erie International Airport.

Visitors will enjoy a wide array of traditional craftsmanship through hands-on stations where little artists will create an item of their own to take home. The skilled artisans on hand will showcase the timeless techniques and crafts that shaped the development of Pennsylvania, and the US, from colonial times through the industrial revolution.
The Return of the U.S. Brig Niagara Parade of Sail
July 2, 2026
After more than a year away, Erie's flagship returns to her home port just in time for America 250! The U.S. Brig Niagara will sail back into Presque Isle Bay with fanfare, as well as remain open for deck tours, all weekend.
The Parade of Sail will begin at the channel of Presque Isle near the North Pier Light, then travel toward Liberty Park, concluding at the Erie Maritime Museum. Spectators are invited to view the Parade of Sail along the waterfront. Participation in the Parade of Sail is open to the first 40 registered boat owners. Join the parade lineup here.
Erie250: Light and Liberty on the Lake
July 3
The City of Erie's signature Independence Day event will be hosted on the water, featuring a fireworks display from Dobbins Landing after a concert by the Marshall Tucker Band and Buckcherry at Rebich Investments Amphitheater on Erie's Bayfront. While the fireworks are free, with prime viewing locations along Erie's Bayfront, the concert is a ticketed event. Tickets are available here.
Erie Commodores FC vs. Ohio Ambassadors FC
July 3
Cheer on Erie's semi-pro soccer team at Mercyhurst University's Saxon Stadium, as the Erie Commodores FC closes out its season in a special America 250-themed match. Players will wear themed jerseys, and other special events are planned. Get tickets here.
Command & Courage: Oliver Hazard Perry Symposium
August 13-14
Experience history with nationally recognized historians, authors, and a direct descendant of Battle of Lake Erie Hero Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, offering new insight into Perry’s life and history through a series of discussions. The event will offer a deep, multidimensional look at the man whose leadership helped secure the United States’ control of the Great Lakes during the War of 1812 and helped define the emerging identity of the U.S. Navy.
