Erie's home for sports and family fun, the Erie Sports Center includes a sports park, fun park and sports fields. The fun park features a Go Kart driving experience, batting cages, 36 hole mini-golf, climbing wall and beach arena featuring 3 beach volleyball courts, a Tiki Bar, the Lumi Cafe, live local music on the Horseheads Brewing stage and beer garden.
The expERIEnce Children’s Museum invites its visitors to create, explore and imagine at its hands-on interactive exhibit space designed to stimulate and inspire young children from ages one through eight. Currently, the museum is in the midst of a multi-million dollar renovation which will include new exhibits, building space and activities.
Waldameer is the fourth oldest amusement park in Pennsylvania and the tenth oldest in the nation, with classic vibes and updated features, packed with fun and excitement for the young and young at heart. The multi-generational family-owned park features thrilling slides and rides, traditional midway games and refreshment centers all set among beautifully landscaped grounds and picnic groves. Parking and admission to Waldameer are free! Don’t miss out on breathtaking views of Lake Erie from atop Waldameer’s gondola-style Ferris Wheel or the highest hill of the Ravine Flyer II roller coaster. Cool off from a hot summer day at Water World where you can float down the Endless River, plunge down the Liquid Lightning slide or splash around at the Battle of Lake Erie water complex. Waldameer is open May through Labor Day.
Home to more than 400 animals and 11 botanical gardens, the Erie Zoo is a great place to learn about animal and plant wildlife, whether for the day or just a few hours! Explore the many animal exhibits including Kiboka Outpost, Wild Asia, Safariland and Children’s Adventure. Ride the Safariland Train or take a spin around the Wildlife Carousel. Throughout its season, the Zoo hosts many events such as the hugely popular ZooBoo, Wild Wednesdays, Animals are the Artists, Egg-Venture Easter Egg Hunt and more. The Zoo is open March 1 through November 30.
The feeling you get when your team slips a puck past the goalie, or when the crack of a bat sends a home run high in the sky is unforgettable, especially when shared among family, friends, and a crowd of like-minded fans. In Erie, your family can get up-close to the action any time of year! The Erie SeaWolves (an AA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers) play April through September at UPMC Park, and at the adjacent Erie Insurance Arena, catch an Erie Otters game (Ontario Hockey Leauge) from October through April. During the summer months, check out Erie's development soccer team, the Erie Commodores FC (NPSL). Every year, Erie’s hometown teams give their fans something extra to cheer about through up close and personal events such as player meet-and-greets, autograph signings, special promotions, and themed events. It’s more than a game, it’s an event!
