With a variety of accessible facilities, amenities, and services, Erie takes pride in ensuring that everyone can explore and enjoy its rich history, natural beauty, engaging culture, and delicious cuisine.
During swimming season (Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day), Beaches 8 and 11 at Presque Isle feature ADA-accessible mats on the beach. Beach 11 has a mat that provides access to the water’s edge, and Beach 8’s mat provides access to the sand. Beach wheelchairs are available to rent free of charge at Beach 8 at the Public Safety Building or the park’s Ranger Station on a first-come, first-served basis (with proof of I.D.). Wheelchairs are offered at Beach 8 from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day and weekends in September from 11 a.m. to 7 pm., and at the Ranger Station year-round from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. The wheelchairs have a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
