Yes, we welcome members of the media and under certain criteria, can assist visiting press with lodging, admission passes, dining vouchers, and personalized itineraries. VisitErie may also assist with transportation, including travel within the area.

Can the media bring guests and/or family members while visiting Erie?

Yes, we encourage you to bring family and friends to experience Erie with you; however, VisitErie cannot guarantee lodging, meals, or admission into attractions and tours for guests of working media. On occasion, the story may necessitate family members or friends visiting, and we will make accommodations on a case-by-case basis.

What is the best time of year to visit?

Erie is a four-season destination with something to do year-round.

The summer is brimming with activity including the beaches of Presque Isle, family-friendly attractions such as the Erie Zoo, expERIEnce Children’s Museum, Erie SeaWolves AA baseball, and numerous festivals and events spanning Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Fall is a beautiful time to be in Erie due to its spectacular fall colors that permeate the region. Explore the vineyards of Lake Erie Wine Country, farmers markets, Erie Bluffs State Park, and Asbury Woods.

Spring is a great time for media who are looking to file an advance story on some of Erie’s summer and fall events such as WineFest and Discover Presque Isle Days.

In winter, Erie doesn’t slow down, in fact, it’s a hub of recreation, inside and outside! Snow-covered hills boast snow sports for all skill levels from tubing at Mount Pleasant of Edinboro to downhill skiing at Peek’n Peak Ski Resort. What are the drone restrictions and guidelines in Pennsylvania?

All drones, both recreational- and commercial-use weighing between 0.55 lbs. and 55 lbs., must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
