- Peaceful Paddles – Presque Isle State Park’s Lagoons: Imagine gliding across the calm, mirror-like waters of Presque Isle State Park’s lagoon system and feeling nature’s embrace atop a paddleboard. As you begin your peaceful journey through the park’s winding lagoons, you’ll find that it is a unique journey brimming with captivating sights. Presque Isle’s lagoon system is an invaluable habitat for waterfowl, fish, and other wildlife. It’s not uncommon to encounter rows of turtles sunning themselves on logs or observe Great Blue Herons standing guard over the waters. The area also boasts a range of plant species including water lilies, cattails, and fragrant white lilies. The best spot to set your board in the water is the Lagoon Boat Launch, just past Perry Monument. Lessons and rentals are available nearby at Presque Isle Boat Rental, Canoe & Livery, in addition to offering fascinating guided Presque Isle Bay Loop Paddleboard Tours.

It’s the perfect setting for those looking to immerse themselves in the rhythm of the city. The alleyway is also connected to The Shops at 5th and State, an eclectic mix of local retailers, and steps away from the Flagship City Food Hall, featuring nine local food vendors. Come for the music, stay for the vibes. 429 State Alley Parties occur on select Fridays in June, July, and August from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.

It’s a beautiful intertwining of Erie’s golden hour and the timeless elegance of a historic tall ship. A Lettie G. Howard sunset sail is an unforgettable two-hour excursion on the sparkling waters of Presque Isle Bay and Lake. While on board, the crew will invite you to join in on the raising and lowering of the sails for a fun and immersive lesson on seamanship! Don’t worry though, you’ll have ample time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view as the gentle breezes and rhythmic waves lull you into a state of pure bliss. Personal snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed. Sunset sails are available throughout the summer and into October.
